Speech! Speech!

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Let’s not get Captain Spike going, shall we? Or we’d probably get more speeches. :)

I experimented with having the cover image be the background of each update and it works pretty well in this one. Later comics required more … creativity … in dealing with foreground and background clashes. It’s cool, though because I’m a big fan of happy trees.

The colors are something of an experiment, too. As the story progresses, the colors get closer to what I am imagining. Also, the image size is pretty large. I hope it does not provide undue page loading delay. Let me know if it causes any problems.

The next blog update  will have the early pencils so you can see how the story would have looked before I did some edits. Tune back in just three days!

Protocol Ensures Proper Response

Now that you’ve read the story to this point, I can show you the original pencils. Hopefully it will be obvious that the new layout is far more readable in comparison.

I hope you don’tmind me self-critiqing as I compose these posts. Whenever I examine a comic, I run it through its’ paces. Are there tangents? Does the flow of the comic match the tone? There are all kinds of things to question.
