A little play on words about the study and practice of art.
Welcome to the kids page here at ArtPatient.com! This is their page to show off their art and projects, mess around and have some fun.
This superhero is the "Brady Screamer," whom I believe is Dev in her superhero identity. Pretty cool how Dev drew the 'super voice' lines, isn't it?
I have no idea where Dev was inspired to get the name. (And no, we haven't been watching Brady Bunch reruns.) This heroine and all the heroes that follow are members of our little family, so I hope you'll help us keep our secret identities safe from whatever villains we encounter. There are two comic books already created which I will try to scan and add here. Anyway, on to the next hero.
This is little D, the Fast One (Fast Woner.) Superspelling is our weakness, but speed is the Fast One's speciality. He is just as fast as the Dash from the Incredibles. Dev was pretty creative - She invented new costumes, names and powers I don't think she's ever seen in a comic book.
I think that Mom the Fire Lava Girl is supposed to be flying and shooting lava out of her hand. Right away, Mom noticed the cape billowing up behind Fire Lava Girl, showing motion. Again, pretty good for a kid who doesn't read comics.
As you can imagine, Bub the Super Thore is very very strong. Some might even say super duper strong with a cape blowing in the wind, just like Mom Fire Lava Girl.
Finally, we have Dad the Wiggly Changer. He can change to any color and camoflage himself perfectly. I He is also quite dextrous and can easily evade the bad guys.
Introducing the Brady Screamer by little D. He's added some more color, which is just splendiferous in my opinion.
I see that the Fast One has acquired a cape. He's built for speed, I'd say.
And here we have Super Thore, with a touch more color too. It's good to see he still has the right number of fingers, too.
This is what I look like when we go to the lake, according to Little D. I'd like to be able to say that the red top I'm wearing is a wetsuit. Or maybe a sunburn. What I'd like to avoid is explaining why I am seemingly wearing a turtleneck to the beach where there is green water. Help me out here.
I'm not exactly sure if this is supposed to be Little D's sister wearing a shirt with a monkey girl is a wedding dress on it, but that's my guess. You know how difficult artists are about 'what does this picture mean' sorts of questions. In any case, it's a decent likeness of his sister, from his perspective and ability.
Simply, this is Little D playing. I assume that the repeated 'play' word means that he's doing a lot of playing. Very much playing going on here. Let's jump back to a few more of Dev's pics.
This is Dev's picture of me laying down. That must be something I do a lot of, I guess. I'm not sure what the green is all about, unless I'm laying on the grass outside. I'll have to ask.

Promote Your Webcomic
All webcomic artists want to promote their work. That's a given. What we have been lacking is an online place to learn how to promote. How much should you spend on advertising? What else can you do to get a bigger audience? What resources exist for us to take advantage of?
It's new, but there is now such a place. Its' mission is to collect all these resources together so we can all benefit. So, go. Check out how to promote your webcomic and then suggest a resource in the appropriate heading.

Lord of the Trees
Things may have finally just gotten better.
Well, of course, the boys are in full scale retreat and Dark Jay has declared himself Lord of the Trees. None of that is good, per se.
The good part is that DJ is finally done monologing.

Madscottby S.R. Gallatin
Madscott starts out as black and white line drawings but switches over to color in early 2008. A month later it switches back and for a good reason. Even though it looks good, the artist doesn't want to rely on color to carry the comic. The line drawings are not especially detailed but that's not the charm of the strip. I'll come back to that after I talk about some of the details that support it. See the rest of the review right here.
